If you’ve been following me on the blog, Twitter or Instagram, you know I’ve just returned from TBEX 2016 down in Minneapolis. Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX), is world’s largest conference for travel bloggers, travel brands, tourism boards, and media content creators. There are three conferences in total, each occurring once a year, attracting anywhere from 600 – 1500 people! And because the TBEX conferences don’t run simultaneously, you have the option of attending TBEX in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
My 2016 goal for this blog was to take it to the next level. And to me, that meant educating myself about the business of blogging. While I have attended travel conferences in the past, TBEX 2016 is the first travel blogging conference I ever attended. I had the opportunity to learn about monetization, community building, social media marketing, and a great deal more. With 30 sessions in total and 3 sets of inspiring keynote speakers, I left the conference feeling armed and ready to shape the Urban Xenophile into something my readers will feel inspired by.
One of the key takeaways from TBEX 2016 was that video is the fastest growing medium and travelers connect better with travel blogs who choose to embrace it. So with that in mind, you are going to see a great deal more video content on the blog, starting with this video of my my TBEX 2016 experience. I want to give you a front row seat to my travel adventures and experiences, and if you like it, I encourage you to share it, leave comments or email me any feedback you have.
